Workshop on

Knowledge and Information Management in Computer Communication Systems

(KIMCCS 2006)

Call for Papers

Scope of the Workshop

The concept of Computer Communication System denotes association of telecommunication and data processing techniques to process information at a distance. The aim of this workshop is to explore practical issues and theoretical models related to the design and work of broad spectrum of applications supported by this combination of technology and techniques. These problems are located at different levels of networked information systems and cover rather broad spectrum of solutions related to increasing demand for multimedia systems, client-server architectures, Internet and Intranet services in various types of organizations. In this sense computer communication systems are an interesting platform for applications based on diverse resources located in remote nodes of computer networks: memory carriers, processors, resource access points, input and output devices etc. In computer communication systems the quality of provided services depends strongly on the effectiveness of telecommunication and data processing contributing together to the overall evaluation of existing solutions.

This quality results from applied models of data processing implemented in networked information systems, the degree of their susceptibility to fast and effective reactions to changing models of data processing and presentations, the required level of user support in active rather than passive information retrieval, as well as the susceptibility to easier semantic integration with other resources located in virtual environments.

The workshop organizers cordially invite the potential authors to submit papers on all topics defined below, which include, but are not limited to the following subjects considered in the context of computer communication systems:
     - quality of service,
     - security models,
     - data and knowledge engineering/communication,
     - agent and multi-agent systems,
     - active information and knowledge retrieval models,
     - user modeling and support,
     - ontology models and ontology management,
     - inconsistency and uncertainty management,
     - conflict resolution and negotiation strategies,
     - practical applications.

Instructions for Authors

Authors are invited to submit their papers, written in English, of up to 8 pages (a paper without figures can be around 4500 words maximally), presenting the results of original research or innovative practical applications relevant to the workshop topics. Papers should be prepared according to the rules of LNCS (for formatting information see Information for LNCS Authors).

Paper submissions should be done electronically, using submission system on page:
http://www.iccs-meeting.org/iccs2006/papers/upload.php

Please choose the proper workshop for submitting your papers. Papers should be submitted in pdf or ps file format. All papers will be peer reviewed by 3 workshop PC members.

At least one author of an accepted paper must register and present the paper at the workshop.

Proceedings and Post-workshop Publication

All accepted papers will appear in the workshop proceedings published in a bound volume by Springer-Verlag in Lecture Notes in Computer Science series. The proceedings will be available at the workshop.
